JAN GOLDBERG

Founder, Jan Goldberg, had dreams of becoming a teacher. While looking into teaching programs, she got married and started a family. Putting her teaching career on hold until her family was more independent, Jan became involved with the PTA and other volunteer groups. At one point, she donated her cooking skills for a fundraiser event. Jan’s services were so well received, she was called back to cater another fundraiser, with financial compensation. Another organization heard the wonderful reviews and they called upon her talents… And the rest is history!

“It just took off from there”, she says. Thirty-five years later, Jan never dreamed that doing what she loved would yield such successful results. Delectable and innovative foods and being a part of our client’s events from beginning to end is her passion. “When I meet with a client, my goal is to understand their vision for their event. I want them to know every aspect will be personally attended to in detail and handled with the utmost care.”

“We have carefully handpicked our employees for their professionalism, excellent customer service skills and vast knowledge of culinary arts. Several of them have been with us for more than 20 years, and some for over a decade.  Now they have become my working family.”

In addition to her devotion to Delicious! Inc., she is currently on the board of American Bach Soloists, and is a member and past president of BEAM (Business Executives Association of Marin).

In December of 2003, General Manager Teresa Hammond joined Jan as a shareholder in the company.  Together they create an unbeatable team that oversees every aspect of each event and the company as a whole.

DAN ALLIS

Dan Allis was born in Oakland, and grew up in Mill Valley.   He received a degree in Liberal Arts from Pomona College in southern CA, and then returned to Marin.  Not knowing his life path, he took a job in the kitchen of the recently opened Lark Creek Inn in Larkspur.  Other odd jobs followed, and in 1976 he decided to really focus on making a career of cooking.  464 Magnolia (known for its “cutting edge” California cuisine), The Seasons (Marin’s first high end organic natural foods restaurant), the Sleeping Lady Cafe (Van Morrison’s local hangout), Island Cafe and Bubba’s Diner (with Steve Simmons) are all places where Dan honed his culinary skills.

During these years, he married and had two daughters.  One, a dancer, is currently in college in San Diego.  The other, is an environmental educator living in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, which is where his wife was born and raised.

After 25 years of restaurant work, he was in need of a change.  He became the first bread baker for The Good Earth Natural Food Store’s newly installeld a wood fired brick oven.  During this time, the catering bug bit.  A friend reccommended he check out Delicious, Inc., a place where she got her start in the catering world.

In 2003, Dan joined that staff of Delicious, Inc.  He was the sous-chef in the kitchen and in charge of food production at our events.

In September, 2010, he moved into the position of Executive Chef for the company and has embraced his new role.
